Lee Lucas A fine collection of 10 well written songs from one man and his guitar make up this rather short album but brings one much pleasure to listen to. The album itself contains many of his more known songs, 6 of which were originally featured on his previous album The Last Searchers. Only here they are done as a solo performance instead of a duo, and it really brings out more of the raw bones of his fine songs. He really is going back to his roots.with this one and it's worthy of going back with him.

If you smile 02:47
If you smile, girl The sun would shine my day If you love me, girl The moon would light my way We would go for a ride To the sky, you and I We would sail across the seas You and me We would walk by this world With your smile and my song We would light our fire With our love If you smile girl I'd hear the rolling waves If you love me girl The stars would fill the space We would ride wild and free On a horse you and me We would run, run away From here We would fly, we would swim We'd fulfill all our dreams We would share our short life With our love

Standing on the corner at Post street Ben is waiting for his day’s hot meal Sitting on a chair quite uneasy Sarah prays to get her job in mills Unemployment lines getting longer People starving at infirmaries I can hear the calling They are waiting for the change of winds The crisis in which we’re involved in Has to terminate one of these days We have to blow together And bring around the winds of change Jimmy got a drop in his wages Mortgage rates ain’t going down Mary doesn’t sell anything now She might have to close her clothing store Building construction stood still People striving to pay their bills I can hear the calling They are waiting for the change of winds The crisis in which we’re involved in Has to terminate one of these days We have to blow together And bring around the winds of change

Back to North Carolina I'll pack my bags and go Up to North Carolina I'll fly away back home Blue ridge mountains Soon they will show Covered up in snow Back to North Carolina I've been out there too long Up to North Carolina Desert and leave this war Tell me brother What are we fighting for? and whose side is God on? Back to North Carolina My journey's been so tough Up to North Carolina I'll see you again, my love Blue ridge mountains Deep in my soul Dear, here I go Will I make it? Will I get there? Will I see her blue eyes? Will I touch her hair, again?

I’m walking through these crowded streets alone I’m talking but nobody seems to care I’m searching for a soul that comes along I’m asking for a love that has no end All I’m thinking is about you girl Where you went And where you are All I’m begging is for you to stay By my side Stay awhile Cause I miss you more than I can stand And you know I have my pride I’m just looking for our secret place Though I know that you’re not there Cause I know that you are not mine anymore

Johnny was a simple clerk Worked for a big company In a city full of smoke Where no one cares about each other cares He was bored, he was stressed He wanted to fly anywhere Though he was quite well paid He was always yearning for a change But what was he supposed to do When all his life he's been a fool Then he realised What he had to do Pack his bags and sell it all Go back to his roots To the country, there he went Got a farm, tilled the earth Cows and sheeps, hens and pigs Working hard from dawn to dusk each day There he found real good friends And he met a lovely girl And the last time that we met This is what he got to say So what are you supposed to do When all your life you've been a fool Then I realised What I had to do Pack my bags and sell it all Go back to my roots

It's almost dark, a fog descends on the bluff Sheep are going home, it's the end of the month Farmers gather at the bar to drink whiskey and rye Moon's shining high, just for you and I Tom's in the shack, Jim's piling hay in the barn Cows on their stalls, a mule paces back and forth The chimneys's smoke swirls up in the sky Embers in the hearth just for you and I While the sun still cast a faint light in the west And the wind brings the sound of a soft fiddle tune Rest your head on my shoulder, close your eyes And feel the love that was made just for you and I Just for you and I The light of the stars will show us the path Our river will flow while we move along Why don't we toast, celebrate we're alive With a bottle of wine just for you and I Now a dog barks, a horse comes trotting pass Leaves tremble and fall, autumn strips the oaks Raindrops drench the roads, roof will keep us dry There's a bed just for us, just for you and I While the sun still cast a faint light in the west And the wind brings the sound of a soft fiddle tune Rest your head on my shoulder, close your eyes And feel the love that was made just for you and I Just for you and I

Memories of the days we were together Come to mind more often nowadays You were there, smiling, satisfied and in your best clothes We were riding back to your hometown Wheat farms, sunflowers, barley and rye Shafts of sun shining through the clouds Sparkles in your eyes, your hands are trembling while you speak Telling me the stories of your youth We were bound to make our last trip together We were up to know each other even more I learned then something that would last forever Now I know what really matters in this world Now that you’re gone I sing you this song Vultures flying round the wolf river canyon All the way to the black lake there were pines Poplar trees on the margin of the footpath, oaks on creeks Churches that talk in tongues of ancient times Still see you chatting with your friends and kin Having fun till late on a shady yard You were so happy then, so full of joy that you forgot The illness that was going to be your end We were bound to make our last trip together We were up to know each other even more I learned then something that would last forever Now I know what really matters in this world Now that you’re gone I sing you this song Thus you’ll be here Forever more We were bound to make our last trip together We were up to know each other even more I learned then something that would last forever Now I know what really matters in this world Now that you’re gone I sing you this song
